April 4th & 6th - Scribble Game & Exquisite Corpse: The Scribble Game is a classic and simple drawing game where one would draw a random scribbled shape then try and turn that shape into something recognizable. Exquisite Corpse is a game developed by the Surrealists back in the early 1900’s. The game requires multiple people to take turns adding to a collaborative composition, whilst be unaware of the previous player’s additions, resulting in bizarre and unique creations. During this session, students will learn each game and get a chance to play them with each other.
April 11th & 13th – Animal Mashup Games: There are various games based on the idea of taking two or more animals and “mashing” them together to create a new beast. Games like Mythical Creatures and Fantasy Genesis create fun systems to help artists generate new combinations of animals to mashup. During this session students will get a chance to see and play some of the different expressions of idea of animal mashups.
April 18th & 20th – DRAW THIS…: In the game DRAW THIS… players will be using random prompts to generate a sentence. Then they’ll use that sentence to draw a scene. Of all the drawing games we’ll be covering the season DRAW THIS… will challenge the most to create a full composition and work of art. During this session students will play DRAW THIS… and complete a drawing of their random sentence.
